The new Gibson RD Custom is a tribute to the electric guitar first released in 1977, which has achieved cult status over the years! The instrument has been used by artists from a wide range of genres and combines a high level of playing comfort with a unique design. Inspired by the legendary Firebird and Explorer designs, the RD Custom combines the best of both models and delivers the unmistakable Gibson sound of the 70s. With a 25.5" scale length, the electric guitar offers the best conditions for drop tunings, for example, while the two 490R and 498T humbuckers provide an open sound for various musical styles. The combination of a beautiful Ebony finish, the elegant golden hardware and the unmistakable RD shape make the instrument a real eye-catcher for studio and stage!
The RD construction combines the design of the legendary Firebird and Explorer, giving the electric guitar an incomparable look!
The mahogany neck glued to the mahogany body offers robust handling and long-lasting use.
Robust mahogany body/neck and ebony fingerboard
The mahogany body in combination with the glued mahogany neck offers robust handling, while the medium "C" neck profile ensures comfortable handling. The ebony fingerboard is equipped with 22 frets and, thanks to the 12" fingerboard radius, allows secure handling for sophisticated riffs and demanding leads. The golden hardware not only blends in perfectly with the high-gloss ebony finish, but also ensures long-lasting use. The robust Tune-O-Matic bridge with aluminum stop bar keeps the string action and intonation intact, while the Grover Rotomatic tuners guarantee reliable tuning. Rounded off with a beautiful white multi-ply binding on the body and headstock and a matching white single-ply binding on the fingerboard, this electric guitar is a real gem!

490R and 498T humbuckers with true PAF character
With two 490R and 498T humbuckers in the neck and bridge position, the Gibson RD Custom offers the original Gibson sound that delivers the full vintage PAF character. The Alnico 2 magnet of the neck pickup and the Alnico 5 magnet of the bridge pickup enable a grandiose sound that is defined by a warm mid-range, while precise highs and a full low-end convey a versatile sound character. This makes the RD Custom ideal for genres ranging from Blues to rock and everything in between!
