With the Electro Harmonix Mainframe Bit Crusher, Mike Matthews' New York-based effects manufacturer revels in the lo-fi sound of classic arcade and video games. Suitable for electric guitar and electric bass, the EHX Mainframe reduces the sample rate up to 110 Hz and the bit depth up to 1 bit, so that the normally clear sound is enriched with the typical noise, whistle and distortion. In addition to the blend control, which smoothly mixes the effect signal to the clean tone, the Electro Harmonix Mainframe also features three filter modes that bring out the character of the bit crusher. Another highlight in sound shaping is also the sample rate tuning mode, which uses the played pitch to automatically adjust the effect to the song. Last but not least, the Electro Harmonix Mainframe offers the possibility to connect an optionally available expression pedal.
