The DOD Chthonic Fuzz is a classic fuzz pedal that not only produces fat fuzz sounds but is also designed to work perfectly with single-coil, P90, gold-foil or DeArmond pickups. The Chthonic Fuzz was developed with a bright and clean guitar sound in mind, so that the effect compensates for the typical single coil hum and harmonizes ideally with the crisp timbre of ST and Tele models.
The pedal has a simple design and, in addition to a fuzz and output control, has an additional high-cut control. The parameter titled Lustre Control cuts off high frequencies after the main distortion, allowing detailed adjustment of the treble and mid-bass ratio. Furthermore, the inner workings of the Chthonic Fuzz are based on the popular 60s and 70s fuzz circuit, which is the iconic character of early fuzz pioneers à la Jimi Hendrix or Keith Richards. The transistor clipping runs via two 2N2222 transistors and provides an earthy, dark fuzz flavour.
