With the Martin D-13E Ziricote Dreadnought acoustic guitar, the manufacturer Martin & Co. from Pennsylvania presents another member of its Mexican Road series, which is characterized by its fair price-performance ratio and its outstanding quality.

Woods and construction

A partially solid construction consisting of a Sitka spruce top and a body made of strikingly grained ziricote produces a powerful tone that unfolds quickly and across all frequencies thanks to a flat scalloped-X bracing. A wafer-thin high-gloss finish is instrumental in rapid sound development and also allows the observer a deep look at the coarsely marbled grain of the wood. The neck is made of Select-Hardwood and thanks to a Performing-Artist-Profile it is easy to grip all 20 frets, which are set into a black Richlite fingerboard. To ensure a clean intonation on the whole scale length of 645 mm the manufacturer uses a compensated saddle made of GraphTech TUSQ and a 44,45 mm wide nut made of White-Corian, whose fine notches are perfectly matched to the saddle.

Pickups and hardware

Closed chrome tuners additionally ensure easy tuning of the 6 steel strings, which are fixed with plastic pins in a Richlite bridge. For flexible use, both in the living room and on stage, the instrument is equipped with a high-quality Fishman MX-T pickup system, which has a regulator and an integrated tuner in the soundhole.
