Octave fuzz for electric bass: The king of the lizards is here!

The Electro Harmonix Lizard King is an analog octave fuzz based on the circuit concept of the EHX x JHS Lizard Queen and specifically optimized for electric bass and other low end signal sources. As a fixed gain fuzz, the Lizard King responds dynamically to the input signal, allowing the amount of distortion to be controlled directly via the instrument's volume control. This ranges from lightly driven, transparent overdrive textures to aggressive fuzz tones with a pronounced octave character. At the heart of this revised design is the BLEND control, which allows continuous mixing of the clean and fuzz signals. This preserves attack, punch, and low end while letting the fuzz be subtly integrated into the mix or brought clearly to the forefront. The TONE control functions as a low pass filter to shape the high frequencies, while the OCTAVE control adds the characteristic retro octave effect in a controlled manner. The EQ section is complemented by the SUN and SHADOW switch, which further shapes the interaction between clean and fuzz signals. In the SUN position, the octave fuzz features a stronger midrange focus, while the clean signal gains additional highs and lows. In SHADOW mode, the fuzz becomes tighter while the clean signal remains unchanged. With true bypass, a compact design, and low power consumption, the EHX Lizard King is ideal for pedalboards in both live and studio environments where a powerful yet controllable octave fuzz is required.
