Play+ from Polyend is an easy and intuitive to use groovebox with performance sequencer and flexible sound generation. With the Plus version, Polyend takes its compact Groovebox one step further and adds four digital synthesizer models to the instrument. Play+ offers eight tracks for the internal sound generation, which can be assigned to any of the more than 3000 pre-installed, good-sounding (stereo) samples or the four synthesis models. There are eight five-voice polyphonic MIDI tracks for controlling external sound generators such as an analog synthesizer. Each track can be assigned its own clock divider/multiplier, Shuffle and an individual sequence length.
The digital synthesizer models make do with a manageable number of parameters and bring the sonic focus to the point:
In addition to specific synthesizer and sample parameters, the audio tracks can be spiced up with club-ready effects such as filters, distortion, reverb, Delay and saturation.
A unique step repeater has been implemented so that the performance with Play+ lives up to its name and doesn't just score points through mere playback, which should provide many a "Hands Up! moment" in the club. There is also a randomizer with an extended function range, which is able to trigger samples in a Euclidean manner or vary the trigger probability constantly. Beats and melodies are programmed and patterns are called up using the grid buttons. The 8x4 buttons on the far right are intended for track functions such as Mute, Solo, Variation or Select. A total of 128 patterns can be saved per project. As the storage is project-based, additional projects can be temporarily stored on the MicroSD card and exchanged to match.
Of course, there is also plenty to turn on Play+. With 15 real-time rotary controls, effects, performance parameters, pitches, volumes and much more can be selected and adjusted in a matter of seconds. The razor-sharp OLED Display provides reliable information about all current processes on the device. Play+ shines with a maximum of possibilities and features and, after a short familiarization period, is a reliable supplier of grooves, basslines, melodies and unusual sounds of all kinds with high creative potential. As Play+ is powered via USB, nothing stands in the way of mobile, location-independent use with the help of a (separately available) power bank. Play+ transmits 14 audio tracks in stereo to the DAW via the USB port; MIDI is also output and received via this interface, so seamless integration into current projects on the computer is no problem.
