Versatile connectivity & powerful monitoring options
The Black Lion Audio Revolution 14x16 is a versatile USB-C audio interface that offers 14 inputs and 16 outputs in a compact 1U format. With four microphone and instrument preamps, two of which include the renowned Auteur preamps from Black Lion Audio, the device is suitable for a wide range of applications. The Auteur preamps are characterized by their clear, fast attack at low gain and warm, colourful tones at higher gain settings, making them versatile for different sound requirements.
The interface has four DI inputs and four line insert/return channels, which enable the connection of external Hardware such as effects units. Thanks to the rear connections and the switchability of the channels, these can be easily integrated. For additional inputs and outputs, the Revolution 14x16 can be expanded via ADAT, making the device future-proof and adaptable for growing studio environments. The interface also features S/PDIF connections for additional digital connections.
With its precise Macro MMC Clock technology, the interface offers exact synchronization with other digital devices. This function minimizes phase distortion and ensures that transients and high-frequency details are always reproduced with clarity and differentiation.
The headphone mixer of the Black Lion Audio Revolution 14x16 offers a flexible and intuitive way to create individual headphone mixes for up to three separate headphone outputs. With the Mix Edit function, users can quickly and easily assemble a custom Mix from the physical hardware inputs and software playback, all with minimal latency. This allows musicians and producers to use personalized monitoring mixes without interfering with the main Studio mix. Thanks to the separate volume controls for each headphone output, the level of each mix can be individually adjusted.
Sound optimization also as standalone
For further sound optimization, the Revolution 14x16 uses high-quality components such as Vishay, Nichicon and Wima capacitors. These ensure a low noise threshold and optimum sound quality. The internal PG-i technology also reduces interference from external devices.
The device can also be used as a stand-alone 4-channel preamplifier without a computer, making it particularly versatile. An independent +48 V switch on all XLR inputs extends the functionality for professional studio applications.
The package is rounded off by a comprehensive software suite that turns the interface into a complete production tool right out of the box. Included are the DAW Presonus Studio One+ (90 days), Sonarworks SoundID Reference for headphones (90 days), as well as the plugins Audified GK Amplification 3 LE, Audified Mixchecker and Psychic Modulation EchoMelt 3. These software solutions make it possible to start producing high-quality audio material immediately.
