Efficient recording and control

The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 4th Gen USB Audio Interface offers a comprehensive feature set for project or home studios requiring versatile recording capabilities. With a total of 18 inputs and 20 outputs, including eight 4th-generation mic preamps with 69 dB gain, it is ideal for recording microphones and instruments. The preamps can be controlled remotely and enable precise recording of even dynamic performances.

The integrated auto-gain and clip-safe functions take care of automatic level control and protect against clipping, making the recording process more efficient. The revised Air mode gives recordings a characteristic presence and harmonic drive, recreating the sound of classic studio consoles.

The Scarlett 18i20 offers low latency through direct routing and six internal mixers, as well as accurate 24-bit/192kHz conversion and 120dB dynamic range, based on the technology of Focusrite's RedNet products. Focusrite Control 2 software provides efficient control of the Scarlett 18i20's routing, levelling, monitor mixes and other functions. In addition to the desktop version, the Focusrite Control 2 app is available for iOS and Android, allowing monitor mixes and mic preamp settings to be made on the move and independently of the computer.

In addition, the interface features A/B speaker switching, switchable 48V phantom power and an integrated talkback microphone, making it ideal for complex studio setups. The dynamic level meter provides immediate visual feedback of input and output levels. Two specially designed headphone amplifiers ensure high-quality monitor reproduction, even with high-impedance models.

What can be connected?

The Scarlett 18i20 offers a wide range of connection options that enable flexible use in the Studio. Two XLR/jack combo sockets on the front panel can accept microphones, instruments or line signals. On the rear panel there are an additional eight XLR/jack combo sockets and 6.35 mm jack sockets, supplemented by MIDI inputs and outputs for seamless integration of MIDI devices. Furthermore, ADAT and S/PDIF connections offer extended digital connection options for modern studios.

The scope of delivery also includes various software packages, including Ableton Live Lite and a three-month subscription to Pro Tools Artist, plus a wide range of instruments, effects and processors.
