Speaker microphone for the RODECaster
RODE presents with the PodMic a compact speaker microphone, designed for the RODECaster Pro. It is simply connected via the three-pole XLR socket, while a suitable preset is already available in the menu of the RODECaster. The Pod Mic is also suitable for radio, radio play and sync studios and scores with a professional, dynamic kidney capsule as well as its own swivel mount, with which it can be attached to a table tripod (DS1) or swivel arm (PSA1) and can be easily aligned towards the speaker. The capsule itself is elastically suspended, while the swivel mount is internally decoupled from the body, eliminating the need for a microphone spider.
The PodMic is a dynamic microphone and much less sensitive than a condenser microphone. This makes it ideal for studios and speech rooms that have to cope with ambient noise and/or unfavourable room acoustics. The microphone is tuned to the speech transmission and is rich in detail, full and balanced in sound. It is always pleasant to listen to - both when softly reciting poems as well as during thrilling sports reports.
The two-ply stainless steel speaker basket and a fabric path above the capsule effectively counteract explosive consonants and hissing sounds without impairing transparency - the use of an external pop filter is therefore no longer necessary. The robust housing is made of solid brass and has a scratch-resistant ceramic coating, which is why it still looks high quality even years later.
