As the pickup for the Les Paul Standard '50s guitar, Gibson has chosen a set of the popular Burstbucker pickups, carrying the DNA of the legendary PAF humbuckers. With Alnico II magnets and unpaired coils, the pickups deliver airy, light vintage tones with a vocal mid-range and lively dynamics from the amplifier, whose specialty is classic blues and rock styles. The stronger bridge pickup generates a harmonic overdrive from the amp with well-measured assertiveness. The hand-wired circuit, featuring individual volume and tone pots for each pickup and "Orange Drop" capacitors, allows precise control over the guitar's sound.
Finally, Gibson outfits the Les Paul Standard '50s Plain Pelham Blue Top with hardware faithful to the 1950s. The lightweight aluminum stopbar guides the strings over the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, whose adjustment options ensure precise intonation and comfortable string action. At the headstock, the strings pass over a Graph Tech nut to the accurate vintage Deluxe tuners, which keep the guitar securely in tune while preserving the historic look with single-ring keystone wings.
