Nashville, Tennessee - the hotspot for country music! This is where the drum sets for Toontrack's EZX Traditional Country were recorded at the legendary Quonset Hut Studio , the very first recording studio in the now world-famous "Music Row" district. Originally, this facility first opened its doors to the music world in 1955 before Studio was later sold to Columbia and rose to world fame as Columbia Studio B until its closure in 1982. Today it is used by Belmont University as a classroom for audio recording courses. However, the grandiose musical legacy will be remembered forever, as countless artists on the rise at the time, such as Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, recorded their timeless classics at "The Hut". With the help and personal advice of former session musicians, engineers, employees, handwritten drawings and notes from the bygone era, producer Glenn Rosenstein and Master engineer Jeff Balding were able to recreate in detail the sound of an authentic recording session from the early 1950s.
Toonrack's sound expansion includes two sets from the late 1950s and early 1960s (Rogers and Ludwig) as well as a truly unique and rare Apollo MIJ kit. Most of the instruments were recorded using original recording equipment of the period, and their sound is made magical by the inimitably saturated ambience of the studio itself - a sonic quality that probably defines the incomparable and typical Nashville country music sound more than anything else.
With the sound of the Traditional Country EZX Sound Expansion, you can follow in the musical footsteps of those who shaped the sound of country music as we know it today. These legends, and especially the sound of this unique studio, have been instrumental in making Nashville's musical richness blossom and turning the Music Row neighborhood into a creative melting pot for songwriters, artists and the music industry that is unparalleled in the world.
