Like all AAS software synthesizers, all sounds are calculated in real time with no samples used. String Studio VS-1 is particularly easy to use due to its well thought-out and clearly structured interface. The integrated browser makes navigating parameters and presets especially simple. Along with an extensive library containing many real string and ethnic instruments, String Studio VS-1 also comes with numerous high-quality effects to extensively process and refine sounds and instruments.

Features include support for macOS and Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8) with 64-bit compatibility (32-bit for PC and Mac only), a high-quality comprehensive library, an integrated browser for easy preset navigation and organization, unlimited undo and redo, and operation as standalone software or plug-in in VST, AU, and RTAS formats. Freely definable MIDI maps with MIDI Learn functionality are included, as well as high-quality effects like chorus, delay, and reverb. MIDI clock, tap tempo, and host tempo synchronization are also supported.
