digital & analog filters

The two filters arranged in series form the heart of the hybrid synthesis architecture. The signal first passes through the digital multimode filter, which offers 18 filter types. These include unique models with low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, and notch characteristics, as well as recreations of vintage classics and even a vocal (vowel) filter. This stage is followed by an analog 24 dB low-pass filter with an upstream overdrive circuit. This allows subtle sounds to be enhanced and gives oscillator mixes with classic waveforms significantly more bite. In particular, the analog filter is an excellent addition to the overall sound.

The sound construction kit with endless potential

With the oscillator section, ASM has given the Leviasynth a true unique selling point. The eight oscillators can be arranged in so-called algorithms, which determine how they interact with one another. There are 144 preset algorithms to choose from, and an additional algorithm can be customized for each patch. Algorithm Morph also enables an almost unlimited number of oscillator configurations.

More than 300 waveforms and seven independent oscillator modes are available for each oscillator, ensuring maximum sonic variety. Configurations for FM sounds, oscillator sync, and noise are also part of the repertoire. In short, this section offers far more than a few oscillators waiting to be balanced in level and processed through filters.

A modulation Eldorado

When it comes to modulation possibilities, the Leviasynth draws on the full potential: There are five LFOs and five envelopes for each voice; the synthesizer offers eight separate envelopes for the eight oscillators alone! There is also an extensive modulation matrix with 32 slots and a randomizer. The haptic modulation sources around d isplay include eight macro controllers, the huge ribbon controller, two control voltage inputs, the illuminated handwheels for pitch bend and modulation and the keyboard itself. In addition to pitch and note length, the keyboard generates velocity and polyphonic aftertouch. The extensive options are rounded off by a complete MIDI implementation including MPE.

Effects

As the last link in the signal chain, there are three effect blocks to add the finishing touches to the sound. The typical modulation effects such as chorus, flanger, rotary, p haser and tremolo, as well as sound enhancers such as EQ, lo-fi, compressor and Distortion are designed as insert effects. Delay and reverb can be used simultaneously and are available in five and four variants respectively.
