As an Electric Guitarist in the '80s, if you wanted to play Acoustic on stage there weren't many options available. So in 1987, Yamaha made the first Acoustic Guitar that could be taken from a rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; the days of screaming feedback, mis-placed mics and indefinitely extended sound checks were over. The style has moved with the times, but the essence of the APX remains the same.
