It's no coincidence that Rex Brown is one of the most influential bassists in the metal scene. Originally the bassist of legendary groove metal heavyweights Pantera and at times responsible for the low end of Down and Crowbar, Rex released his first solo album Smoke or This... in 2017. In keeping with the Pantera revival, Epiphone provides fans and collectors with the Epiphone Rex Brown Thunderbird Bass, the perfect tool for tight rhythm work in the lower registers. As additional highlights, the 4-string Bass has a rear e-compartment cover with Rex Brown's Signature and a matching hardshell case.
For outstanding resonance from headstock to strap pin, the neck of the Rex Brown Thunderbird has a continuous neck-thru construction and is made from nine strips of mahogany and walnut. The two shaping mahogany body wings, which form the characteristic Offset-Design of the Thunderbird and house the instrument's electrics, are glued to this. The basic construction is completed by a 20-fret fretboard made of Indian Laurel with classic dot inlays for fret marking.
Two Epiphone ProBucker 760 Bass humbuckers in the neck and bridge position provide the right amount of growl and the necessary bass boost. These versions of the coveted ProBucker are specially designed for the bass range and are characterized by their warm and full character, which is guaranteed to leave nothing to be desired in terms of sound. The underlying wiring is completely passive and offers two separate volume controls to individually control the volume of both pickups and a common master tone to attenuate the treble.
