The electrical sound conversion of the Sandberg California Nighthawk Plus TM5 Copper Satin is handled by two Sandberg Black Label Series pickups, a single-coil in the middle position and a humbucker at the bridge. They allow the 5-string electric bass to deliver versatile rock sounds ranging from gnarled, aggressive mid-growl with the high assertiveness of the humbucker to the abyssal, yet transparent bass foundation of the single coil. The humbucker can also be split via the split switch for authentic single-coil sounds, whereas the musically tuned 2-band EQ allows precise adjustments of the timbre.

The Sandberg California Nighthawk Plus is equipped with lightweight Sandberg Machine Heads.
