Top-class electric guitar in honor of Ted McCarty

The PRS McCarty CC Black Sparkle electric guitar represents the successful collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and Ted McCarty, the legendary innovator who significantly influenced the development of the electric guitar in the fifties. Inspired by classic guitars of the Golden Era, the PRS McCarty features a strong mahogany body with a chic maple top and a glued mahogany neck with a strong neck profile that evokes the authentic feel of classic originals. Two PRS 58/15 LT humbuckers with moderate Output furthermore deliver finely resolved and warm vintage sounds between glassy cleans and creamy overdrive. A PRS wraparound bridge and tuning-stable Vintage-Style tuners complete the McCarty electric guitar from PRS.

The PRS McCarty CC Black Sparkle was inspired by the collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and Ted McCarty.

The sturdy mahogany "Pattern" neck is glued to the body of the PRS McCarty guitar.

Traditional construction

The construction of the McCarty electric guitar combines classic Golden Era specifications with the typical features of PRS Guitars. The electric guitar is built with the typical 25" scale length (635 mm) and accordingly has a mahogany body, which is more powerful than the regular PRS models for an increased fullness of sound, and a two-piece maple top with a characterful grain and elegant natural binding. The glued mahogany neck in a pleasantly strong "pattern" neck profile also has a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with bird inlays to mark the positions.

Two PRS 58/15 LT Low Turns humbuckers with reduced output deliver warm vintage sounds with lively dynamics.

Vintage sounds with 58/15 LT pickups

To achieve the appropriate Vintage sound, Paul Reed Smith equips the McCarty electric guitar with two 58/15 LT humbuckers. The "low turns" versions of the extremely popular 58/15 pickups have coils with a reduced number of windings and deliver first-class clean and overdrive sounds thanks to the moderate Output, which can be easily shaped via the playing technique thanks to the excellent dynamics. Both pickups can also be split to expand the sound repertoire with clear-as-a-bell single-coil sounds.

The PRS McCarty has vintage-style tuners for precise and stable tuning.

PRS Hardware

Last but not least, the McCarty CC Black Sparkle electric guitar from PRS is rounded off with perfectly coordinated hardware. The bridge is the PRS Wraparound Tailpiece made of aluminum, whose compensated string rest ensures clean intonation. Brass inserts under the strings also support the lively sound character of the guitar. PRS Vintage-Style tuners on the headstock in the classic PRS design also ensure robust and precise tuning.
