With the Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Sixties Cherry, Gibson USA presents an electric guitar as part of the Original Collection that authentically captures the spirit and sound of the innovative single-cut models from the early 1960s. In addition to the mahogany body without weight relief and the obligatory AA curly maple top, the guitar has a slim taper mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard that sits comfortably in the hand. At the guitar amplifier, Gibson Burstbucker 61 pickups deliver typical vintage sounds with authentic PAF character, which can be adjusted via the hand-wired circuit with Orange drop capacitors. Last but not least, the Les Paul Standard '60s Sixties Cherry from Gibson features Grover Rotomatic tuners and the tried-and-tested ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium stopbar setup.
The construction of the Les Paul Standard '60s Sixties Cherry naturally follows the historical guidelines in order to achieve the unadulterated and powerful sound character. Accordingly, Gibson dispenses with a weight relief in the mahogany body, while the top made from AA-quality curly maple underlines the dignified look of the guitar. With the pleasantly slim "sim taper" profile of the sixties, the glued mahogany neck also promises comfortable playing characteristics right up to the high registers of the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
Gibson chose two Burstbucker 61 pickups for the Les Paul Standard '60s. Equipped with Alnico V magnets, the humbuckers promise an authentic PAF character with an accentuated mid-range spectrum and airy dynamics, and to elicit harmonically resolved cleans and powerful Overdrive with singing Sustain from the guitar amplifier. n order to be able to precisely adjust the guitar sound, Gibson also relies on the classic, hand-wired 3-way circuit, which provides the popular Orange Drop capacitors for smooth treble roll-offs in addition to separate volume and tone controls for each pickup.
Of course, Gibson completes the Les Paul Standard '60s Sixties Cherry with the traditional hardware equipment that more than fulfills professional demands on stage and in the recording studio. On the body, the strings are guided from the lightweight aluminium stopbar via the classic ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, which was developed by legendary Gibson president Ted McCarty to guarantee precise adjustment of intonation and string action. At the headstock in the coveted "Open Book" Style , a GraphTech nut also guides the strings to six Grover Rotomatic tuners, which combine high precision and tuning stability with classic Vintage-Looks .
