Cyber percussions from another dimension

The CyDrums uses wavetable synthesis to shape its percussive sounds. The 64 wavetables can be scanned in different directions, with adjustable start and end points and playback speed. The wavetable engine is complemented by a flexible noise generator and TICK, which shapes the attack phase of each sound. To tailor sounds further, you can select from 22 sound structures. Each structure combines oscillators, envelopes, filters, noise, and other elements in unique configurations. The signal then passes through a resonant multimode filter (with parametric EQ) and an amp section with its own envelope, distortion, and FX bus. A per-track modulator adds further movement, with over 60 assignable parameters for velocity, aftertouch, and envelope modulation.

Flexible grid sequencer with 8 tracks

The eight-track sequencer of the CyDrums is divided into tracks and songs. The first step is to determine which task each of the eight tracks should have, with the choice of whether the track is used normally, r andom or stutter. The sequencer can be programmed live or step-by-step in the TR grid and has a memory capacity of 128 patternsper project, each of which can be up to 128 steps long, and 16 songs. Recording parameter locks brings life and variety to the patterns. The shuffle (swing) parameter adds more groove and funkiness to the beats. Various live effects in the sequencer bring variations to the current pattern at the touch of a button without having to reprogram anything.

Connections

The USB port allows you to connect a smartphone, enabling audio to be streamed directly into the device. Conversely, it is possible to record the stereo track of the CyDrums directly in the DAW. The impedance of the audio input can be switched so that line, microphone and Hi-Z signals can be processed. The built-in microphone can feed in any sound on the spot. It is therefore ideal for capturing sounds from the environment as the basis for new drum sounds. The stereo output is connected to a mixing console as usual. There are MIDI inputs and outputs as well as Analog Sync In & Out for connecting to other equipment, e.g. to synchronize the sampler with Korg Volca or Teenage Pocket Operators.
