Mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard

The mahogany neck sits comfortably in the hand, and the premium ebony fingerboard allows the fretting hand to glide effortlessly across all 20 frets. Rapid chord changes and intricate melodic passages are easily executed for clean, articulate playing. A generous cutaway provides unhindered access to the upper registers, ensuring that players can fully explore the instrument's range. Durable nickel Taylor tuners guarantee rock-solid tuning, while a Micarta saddle ensures perfect intonation and long-lasting playing pleasure.

Taylor Expression System 2

Taylor's proprietary Expression System 2 captures the guitar's natural voice with exceptional detail. Three piezo sensors mounted behind the saddle detect each string pair, ensuring that even the finest nuances reach the amplifier uncolored and true to the original tone. Lily Vine Inlay

A visual centerpiece of the 414ce-R LTD is the graceful Lily Vine inlay that winds across the fingerboard. The top's Shaded Edgeburst finish adds warm visual depth while letting the fine Sitka grain shine through. Natural high-gloss back and sides complement the look with understated elegance. Completing the design is a classic tortoise pickguard, which both protects the top from pick wear and adds a tasteful touch of vintage charm.

Sustainable ebony cultivation in Cameroon

As ebony is particularly finger-friendly due to its hard, supple texture, it has long been the preferred choice for the production of fingerboards. Its attractive appearance is also extremely popular for bridges, headstock overlays, bridge Pins and Bindings . However, the high demand and the flourishing black market outstripped stocks, so that ebony ended up on the Red List of endangered species in 1994. In addition, only the deep black heartwood, which makes up only a fraction of the tree, was used, resulting in a disproportionately large amount of waste in production. To protect the forests, Taylor has been working with the Crelicam Wood Mill in Yaoundé, Cameroon, since 2011 to promote controlled consumption by processing waste products.
