The Aston Starlight Cardioid Pencil Microphone (Single) is a cardioid condenser microphone with a host of new features, the most noticeable of which is a laser mounted on the side of the chassis allowing for precision positioning on stage and in the studio. The build quality of the microphone is excellent, 100% stainless steel, and the Starlight features Aston's signature sintered head, which enhances capsule protection and improves acoustic response.

Three modes of voice selection further diversify the application of the Starlight microphones - Vintage, Modern and Hybrid. These different colours allow for fast A>B comparisons between modes on the same sound source with the sliding of a switch.

The Starlight's Discrete Mic Amp Circuit (PCB) is extremely sensitive and yet records with low noise and plenty of head room. Its high output level also means any preamps in the signal chain can operate at a lower gain than would normally be expected, giving more options in terms of the amount of distortion recorded.
