The Epiphone 1959 ES-355 Cherry Red is the deluxe version of the legendary ES-335, as it was manufactured by Gibson Guitars in 1959. Accordingly, the instrument from the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom collection offers a classic tonewood selection and original parts that give it its unmistakable late fifties charm. As an absolute highlight, two genuine Gibson USA custom bucker pickups and a hand-wired wiring with absolute premium components are used for first-class sounds. Last but not least, Epiphone has given the electric guitar a matching hardshell Case with an imprinted Epiphone logo.
Ever since the introduction of the famous ES-335, Gibson has relied on particularly resonant maple/poplar laminate for the construction of its semi-hollow guitars. The body and the arched top of the Epiphone 1959 ES-355, which is fitted with F-holes, have a five-ply design and are finished with multi-ply Bindings on the front and back. Of course, a resonant mahogany neck with a classic '50s Rounded Medium C neck profile and the 22-fret ebony fingerboard with block inlays should not be missing in order to skillfully recreate the unique playing feel of the late fifties model.
As part of the Inspired by Gibson Custom collection, the Epiphone 1959 ES-355 features two genuine custom bucker pickups from the Gibson USA facility. The humbuckers, which are actually reserved for custom store instruments from Nashville , are considered to be extremely successful P.A.F. replicas that capture the sound of the Golden Era like no other pickup set. The underlying wiring is hand-wired and relies on genuine Mallory capacitors for authentic treble roll-offs, high-quality CTS potentiometers and a Switchcraft USA output socket for crystal-clear and reliable signal transmission.
