The Doepfer A-184-1 Ring Modulator is actually a combination of 3 other A-100 dual modules, each occurring as a single instance (some configurations not requiring a dual slew limiter, S & H unit or ring modulator). The top section is an exact replica of half an A-114 - a single ring modulator with X & Y inputs and an XY output. Beneth this ring modulator is a Sample & Hold / Track & Hold unit followed by a slew limiter. A switch toggles between S&H and T&H - In S&H mode the unit picks out a sample from the voltage at the SH input at the rising edge of the trigger signal input. In T&H mode the output follows the input voltage as long as the level of the trigger signal is high. As soon as the trigger signal turns low, the last voltage is stored. The trigger input is internally set to high, so the unit works just as a slew limiter in T&H mode when no trigger signal is applied.
