The Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set Vintage White Marine is a high-end drum shell set made of maple. The Classic Maple series is aimed at professional drummers who are looking for a perfectly tuned tool in terms of sound and appearance. Each drum in the shell set is built by hand in the American Ludwig factory.
This shell set consists of a 22" x 14" bass drum, a 13" x 9" Tom tom and a 16" x 16" floor tom in the foiled Vintage White Marine. The Classic maple drums consist of a total of 7 layers of maple wood, resulting in a thickness of 6 mm. Thanks to RFST molding, the shells offer optimum resonance. Equipped with Ludwig Weathermaster heads, which rest on the 45° ridge, the professional overall appearance of the Ludwig Classic Maple is harmoniously rounded off.
Shells made from the finest maple wood
The basis for the good sound of the Classic Maple Shell Set lies in the cleanly crafted drum shells. In the Ludwig Classic Maple series, these consist of a total of 7 layers of maple wood, resulting in a thickness of 6 mm. The first step in the manufacturing process is to produce the core, which consists of three cross-laminated layers of veneer. Then two outer and two inner layers are added using the RFST molding process. The burr is sanded at a 45° angle and is located on the outer approx. 1.5 mm of the core. This creates a very sharp edge, which gives the Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set its open sound character.
