The Mapex MM628SFUOD Mars Maple Stage+ Shell Set Midnight Blue is a 100% maple shell set with SONIClear shell burrs. The Mars Maple series features high quality crafted maple shells with short tone and plenty of projection, as well as balanced bass. The shells consist of six plies with a thickness of 7.2 mm. Unwanted harmonics are naturally reduced by the wood, additionally the shells offer ideal tuning behavior in all situations. The SONIClear Tom suspension increases the resonance of the shells by allowing it to vibrate completely freely. In combination with the Remo heads, which are supplied from the factory, the result is a professional sound that is suitable for the stage. Visually, the Mapex Mars drum kit is rounded out by the lacquered finish and chrome hardware.
SONIClear boiler burr for the Mars series
One of the professional aspects is the SONIClear boiler burr. The strong rounding of the edges increases the contact surface on the shell. The thus increased contact causes a stronger power transmission from the head to the shell, which emphasizes the powerful and deep fundamental tone of the Mars drum shells. Last but not least, this form of shell burr makes Mars drums easier to tune, especially at low frequencies.
