The Slim Continuum s46L6x from Haken Audio is one of the most expressive electronic instruments of recent decades. With a total of 40 years of development, Dr. Lippold Haken and Cameron Fuller have created a special instrument that is just as musically fulfilling as an acoustic instrument.
The Continuum's unique, sensitive playing surface blends seamlessly with the powerful EaganMatrix sound engine for a truly organic playing experience. The Continuum comes with over 500 presets, each a unique interaction with the sound!
What sets the Continuum apart from all keyboard instruments is the neoprene surface (playing surface) with 46 "keys", under which is a finely tuned, magnetic sensor system with three-dimensional control. Each finger on the Continuum reacts individually to pitch, pressure (aftertouch per note) and forward/backward position. The instrument detects each finger individually with microscopic accuracy, using up to twelve independent Hall-effect sensors per finger. The analogue outputs of each sensor are digitized by ultra-fast A/D converters. A typical note played on the Continuum contains data from hundreds of thousands of reverb effect samples, allowing for exponentially greater accuracy and sensitivity. If you like, the Continuum Fingerboard is the mother of all ribbon controllers!
The modular EaganMatrix masters various synthesis models such as subtractive, FM, Physical Modelling including modal filter banks with the aid of various oscillators, filters, modifiers such as Waveshaping or ring modulation, several modulation sources such as envelopes, LFOs and internal and external controllers. Parameters can also be combined in the editor, allowing even more complex sound changes to be implemented. This makes the EM one of the most complex digital sound generation methods on the market. The polyphony ranges from 1 to 16 voices, depending on the complexity of a sound.
