With the Darkglass Microtubes 500v2, the Finnish bass specialists give their extremely popular 500-watt top a well-deserved makeover, which includes an even more flexible sound design and expanded application possibilities on stage and in the recording studio. Accordingly, the bass amp, clad in black aluminium, offers a graphic 6-band EQ for the clean section, while the switchable Microtubes Engine comes as usual with two voicings and precise adjustment options. Thanks to the highly efficient Darkglass Class-D power amp, the compact and lightweight bass top has massive volume reserves. Last but not least, the Darkglass Microtubes 500v2 is equipped with a balanced DI output and a headphone jack that deliver particularly natural sound experiences thanks to three selectable IR speaker simulations.
In addition to the clean channel with a 6-band graphic equalizer, the Darkglass Microtubes 500v2 features a Microtubes engine with the voicings of the popular B3K and MTV bass distortors.
Clean Section with 6-Band Graphic EQ
The heart of the Microtubes 500v2 is the variable preamp, which is built in completely analogue solid-state technology and connects the clean section with the Microtubes engine. The clean channel convinces with a particularly transparent sound image as well as the unadulterated representation of playing technique and instrument character. In addition to the graphic 6-band equalizer for precise adjustment of the sound, there is also a practical one-button compressor.
Microtubes Engine
For tonal variability in the form of excellent overdrive sounds, the Microtubes Engine of the Darkglass Microtubes provides furthermore, whose voicing can be switched between the Darkglass Vintage Microtubes and the Darkglass B3K. Accordingly, the amp covers a particularly wide gain spectrum, from lightly compressing crunch to mid-range vintage overdrive to a brute distortion wrecking ball for modern metal. In order to maintain definition and pressure in the bass range, the clean signal can be mixed in continuously via the blend control.
The rear panel of the Darkglass Microtubes 500v2 provides access to the DI-out, effects loop, aux-in and headphone jack as well as the three speaker simulations.
Extensive connections and speaker simulation
In addition, the Darkglass Microtubes 500v2 comes with extensive connections that equip the head for almost all situations on stage or in the recording studio. In addition to the serial effects loop, the practical head offers a balanced direct out for direct signal pickup on stage or in the recording studio. Furthermore, three impulse response-based speaker simulations are on board, which promise a particularly natural sound experience when using the DI-Out or headphone connection. The head also connects to the Dark Glass software via the USB port, allowing you to load your own impulse responses and change the compressor's parameters.
Class-D power amp with 500 watts
The highly efficient Darkglass Class-D power amplifier of the Darkglass Microtubes 500v2 furthermore releases up to 500 watts of power, which promise powerful sounds with sufficient volume reserves for larger gigs. A convenient combo jack is available for connecting speaker cabinets, while the minimum impedance of 2 ohms supports the use of different speaker combinations.
