Laser protection regulations

Because the laser beam is highly concentrated, all its light energy is focused on a very small area. If this beam hits the human eye, it can cause damage - especially if someone looks directly into the beam. However, when the beam is deflected, as is usually the case with compact show laser systems due to their scanning units, the intensity and thus the risk are significantly reduced.

Lasers and laser-containing devices are classified according to their potential hazard under the accident prevention regulation on laser radiation (BGV B2). Around 99% of compact show lasers currently available - and all those we offer - fall under protection classes 3a and 3b. These devices require official approval.

For safe operation at public events, a laser protection officer (according to radiation protection rules under VBG 93 §6 (BGV-B2)) must be appointed. When installing laser systems in public venues such as clubs, multipurpose halls, or restaurants, the equipment must be approved by the locally responsible TÜV (Technical Inspection Agency) or the Employer's Liability Insurance Association.
