With Sawtooth Stack, Verbos Electronics presents an analog synthvoice with a swarm of five oscillators and MIDI control. The main attraction of the module are the five oscillators, which can be tuned against each other and are based on the in-house Foundation Oscillator based. One press of the autotune button is enough to calibrate the tone generators perfectly. Instead of a filter, Sawtooth Stack is equipped with a multiplying waveshaper. Timbre fades from a sine wave to a sawtooth wave and Richness multiplies the sawtooth wave. The Synthvoice is completed by two loopable attack/decay envelopes that are normalized to the stereo VCA (Amplitude) and the Richness parameter in the waveshaper section (Harmonics). Both envelopes are loopable and have a control range of 2ms to 10 seconds. The fall (decay) time can also be modulated via a control voltage. Thanks to the end-of-cycle output, one envelope can start the other envelope after each cycle. Almost all parameters can be modulated not only via control voltage with bipolar attenuators but also via MIDI . Played notes affect the pitch of the oscillators and the gate inputs of the two envelopes. Velocity is normalized to the timbre parameter. Below some parameters there is a number, this is the corresponding MIDI CC and the parameter can be automated from a DAW or with a master sequencer. Musically, Sawtooth Stack moves between dub techno chords, fat rave and mainstage sounds and diffuse sounds that stimulate the imagination. As the module is designed as a synthvoice, you basically don't need much more than a Eurorack case with power supply to get started.
