New features
Steinberg is now entering its 12th iteration with Nuendo, once again delivering a range of powerful audio tools designed to make your work in post-production whether for film, TV, broadcast, game audio, or immersive sound easier and more efficient. In the latest Nuendo 12 software version, even more focus is placed on dialog editing to ensure clarity and precision. You'll also find innovative tools for recording and editing audio, streamlining sound design and overall post-production studio tasks, as well as mixing with headphones. Read on to see exactly what's new!
If dialog editing is a significant part of your workflow, you'll love the AI-powered dialog detection algorithms. These automatically remove silent sections from recordings, leaving only the dialog ready for direct editing.
The advanced audio alignment features also allow for the inclusion of multiple reference clips, with their exact timing applied to corresponding files from field recorders.
Another exciting addition is the Free Warp tool, which lets you make subtle time adjustments within individual clips directly from the project window.
With the global popularity of Netflix and its constant stream of new movies and series, there are more opportunities than ever for mixing engineers, sound designers, and more. To support work on Netflix dubbing projects, TTAL Import and Export is now available.
Headphone users will also appreciate the Headphones Match plug-in, which compensates for or emulates the frequency response curve of 387 different headphone models from top manufacturers. Additionally, the Dolby Atmos renderer offers highly accurate spatial mixing with its Binaural Downmix feature for immersive sound mixing on headphones.
EdiCue v4 is now fully supported, enabling you to load reel text from PDF scripts and store cue data directly in Nuendo's cycle markers.
The new MIDI remote system and API make it quicker than ever to recognize MIDI devices and map controllers, saving valuable time and allowing for seamless testing of various setups.
For sound designers, there are new tools like Raiser (a limiter with ultra-fast attack times) and the FX Modulator, which includes various effect modules and an envelope editor for precise timing-based modulations.
Steinberg is continuously refining its tools and features to ensure a smooth, efficient workflow. In Nuendo 12, improvements are found throughout the software. Here's a brief overview of what's new:
