The Marshall JCM 800 is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and influential tube amplifiers of all time. In the 1980s, it defined the sound of countless rock and metal bands, from Slayer to Iron Maiden and Guns N' Roses, with its aggressive, cutting tone. With the Modified JCM 800, this classic has been reissued and enhanced with new features to meet the needs of modern players, all while preserving the character of the original. At its core is the same single-channel design with a 3-band EQ for bass, mids, and treble. Added features like a gain boost provide even more saturation, giving the sound extra punch and richness. A switchable mid-boost emphasizes the midrange, adding clarity and presence that's perfect for lead tones or tight, focused rhythm playing. The Tight switch helps control low-end response, making the amp ideal for high-gain precision and drop tunings.
Internally, the amp stays true to the original: three ECC83 preamp tubes (including phase inverter) and four EL34 power tubes deliver a full 100 watts of authentic Marshall power. The EQ section, featuring bass, middle, treble, and presence controls, responds just like the classic models, offering everything from crunchy rock tones to searing high-gain distortion. Multiple speaker outputs (4, 8, and 16 ohms) allow flexible pairing with different cabinets. The Modified JCM 800 is handcrafted in the UK at Marshall's headquarters in Bletchley. It proudly carries on the tradition of the original JCM 800, now with more tone-shaping options, greater control, and modern versatility - all without compromising the legendary sound that made it a classic.
