Hidden beneath the deep black matt finish of the Sandberg California Nighthawk VM5 PF is a classic Alder body, which is connected to the maple neck and Pau Ferro fingerboard by six screws. This combination promises a fat primary tone with crisp attack and even sustain, providing the perfect foundation for perfectly articulated riffs. Thanks to the comfortably shaped "C" profile, these riffs come off particularly easily.

The electrical sound conversion of the Sandberg California Nighthawk VM5 is provided by pickups of the Sandberg Black Label Series, a split coil in the middle position and a humbucker on the bridge. These deliver versatile rock and metal sounds, ranging from massive low-end thrust with light compression to gnarly, aggressive mid-growl with high assertiveness. Naturally the low B-string is perfectly integrated into the sound with precise articulation. An active 2-band EQ is included to adjust the sound.
