Bring the funk! Auto-wah and beautiful distortion sounds with the BM-11M Low Pass Filter

With the BM-11M Low Pass Filter, Behringer presents a clone of the Moog MF-101 Lowpass Filter from the popular MoogerFooger series. Behringer has succeeded in faithfully reproducing the special sound of the classic in all its details.
Basically, this is a decoupling of the famous lowpass filter from the Minimoog, whereby the slope can be switched between 12dB (2 poles) and 24dB (4 poles). The Cutoff goes down really low and only lets the very lowest frequencies through if necessary. The resonance is felt to reach into the stratosphere and tends to color the sound strongly at higher values, which is also desirable in combination with the overdrivable audio input.
The envelope follower determines a control voltage from the level differences of the input signal in two speed stages and uses it to modulate the cutoff parameter. This instantly creates the iconic auto-wah sounds and the filter sweeps always fit in rhythmically. The input stage is designed for line and guitar levels and can be overdriven, which in most cases sounds very musical and has a harmonic character.

Some people ask themselves at this point: Why should I hook up a filter box like this to my synths? Because of the funk! The audio input simply distorts more beautifully(!) than most gain stages of conventional mixers. The filter itself has a very familiar character and the envelope follower automatically adjusts the sound changes. Have you ever heard Fatboy Slim or Big Beat from the early 2000s?
