With the Darkglass Alpha ∙ Omega Φothon, the Finnish effects manufacturer sends the ultimate interpretation of its most successful distortion effect into the race. The practical Bass effect unit combines the extremely flexible distortion circuitry developed together with Jon Stockman from Karnivool with a compressor, graphic EQ and speaker simulation to create an all-in-one preamp that is ideally equipped for Studio and the stage thanks to its integrated audio interface and flexible connections.
The heart of the Bass Preamps is naturally the established distortion circuit, which provides two freely mixable timbres with the tight α-overdrive and the extreme Ω-distortion. In addition to the unadulterated standard mode, the Alpha Omega Photon comes up with four further distortion variations, which provide additional growl and bite for variety in the sound design. As usual, the αΩ knob mixes both distortion effects, while the Blend knob adds the clean signal for punch and definition.
A practical detail of the Alpha Omega Photon is the intelligent One-Knob Compressor, which can be intuitively adjusted with only one knob and five selectable ratio settings. The graphic 6-band equalizer, which is adjusted via the central touch faders, allows precise adjustment of the timbre with up to 12 dB Boost or cut in the musically selected frequency bands. To achieve a particularly natural sound when playing directly into the mixing console or DAW, the Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon is equipped with five-speaker simulations based on impulse responses.
The Darkglass Alpha Omega also comes with an integrated USB audio interface that makes recording with the perfect sound a breeze. In addition to the stereo outputs on the front panel, which output the signal both balanced and unbalanced, the Alpha Omega Photon has an XLR direct out with ground lift, a stereo aux input and a headphone jack with its own level control.
