The MOTU 16A is a professional Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 audio interface of the latest generation that impresses with its enormous flexibility and performance. It offers 32 inputs and 34 outputs, including 16 balanced TRS line connectors, two optical ADAT banks and a headphone output on the front. This makes the device ideal for use in modern production environments and on stage. The built-in ESS Sabre32 Ultra™ converters deliver a dynamic range of up to 125 dB and guarantee precise, high-quality audio at sample rates of up to 192 kHz.
Thanks to universal connection options via Thunderbolt 4, USB4, USB3 and USB2 as well as compatibility with macOS, Windows and iOS, the 16A is extremely versatile. The connection to the computer is made via a 40 Gbit/s USB-C cable included in the scope of delivery. Depending on the host system, up to 256 audio channels (128 in, 128 out) can be used. The Class Compliant firmware also allows direct operation with iPads or other iOS devices without additional drivers.
The MOTU 16A impresses with an extremely low round-trip latency of around 1.8 ms at 96 kHz and offers a powerful DSP mixer engine with 64-channel mixing, 32 busses and integrated effects such as reverb, EQ, gate, compressor and high-pass filter. The intuitive patchbay routing with virtual cables allows flexible signal routing and splitting of sources to multiple destinations.
Two integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports make it possible to set up an AVB network for connecting multiple interfaces or for use in networked studios. It can be conveniently controlled via the CueMix Pro software for macOS, Windows and iOS or via WLAN with the corresponding app. Further features such as DC-coupled TRS outputs for CV control of modular systems, loopback function for streaming, word clock connections as well as separate speaker selection and talkback function in control room mode underline the professional features of the 16A.
Two high-resolution, 3.9-inch TFT color displays on the front provide precise level indication and direct access to central device settings. Power is supplied via an integrated power supply unit that can be used worldwide. With its robust construction, extensive connection options and uncompromising audio quality, the MOTU 16A is a future-proof solution for demanding music productions, broadcast applications and professional studios.
