The NTR is the first Studio Ribbon microphone from Rode. It was newly developed from the ground up and is a modern interpretation of this microphone type. The ribbon measures only 1.8 microns thick and was designed to be as sensitive as possible over the useable frequency response range. The aluminium strip was not cut mechanically, but with a precision layer to ensure a perfect cut and to prevent microscopic fraying at the edges over time, and thereby extending its lifespan.

The frame of the ribbon element is equipped with its own internal shock mounting system. This elastic suspension decouples the ribbon from the rest of the microphone to prevent resonating interference and renders any additional external shock mount redundant.

In the lower section of the microphones is housed am in-house designed high output, ultra-low noise, low-impedance transformer paired with top-of-the-line active electronics. In contrast to many other ribbon microphones, its powerful internal electronics allows it be used with almost any preamp and even "normal" interfaces without needing additional gain.

The top of the microphone frame features a travel screw which allows the shock mount and the sensitive ribbon to be held firmly in place to prevent damage during transport.

Note: To reduce the risk of damaging the ribbon, the use of a pop-screen is absolutely required for close-range vocal recordings.
