Knobula Monumatic in detail

Monumatic from Knobula is a digital, polyphonic synth voice with 16 oscillator modes. The module, which is only 12 HP wide, has everything on board to pass as a fully-fledged and, above all, complete synthesizer. With a manageable number of knobs and switches, a huge range of classic to futuristic synthesizer sounds can be created literally in the blink of an eye.
Thanks to plenty of computing power, the purely digital module masters several complex oscillator modes, can be played 8-voice polyphonically or monophonically and impresses with its high-quality sound. The signal path is roughly comparable to that of a Juno synthesizer. It starts with the oscillator, which generates the modes Roland Supersaw, Polymoog Vox Humana, Casio Phase-Distortion, Solina String Synth, Drawbar Organ (B3 style), "Noisy Cassette" Strings, PWM, Asymmetrical Sync Saw and Sync Square. In addition to the pitch, the detune control is used to set the detuning or intervals; with sweet spots for unison, 5th and sub-octave, you can quickly achieve the powerful feel-good sounds that give many a track the necessary fire. The tone generator is followed by a very good sounding multimode filter with 12/24dB lowpass, vowel (for vocal effects), phase shifter, notch and Highpass characteristics and overdrive as well as switchable keytracking. What you don't see is the VCA, which is modulated by the ADSR envelope like the filter. The last element in the signal path is the incredibly deep and detailed sounding 24 bit / 96 kHz Stereo reverb effect.
The module can be played monophonically or polyphonically, both behave via MIDI as you would expect from a desktop or keyboard synthesizer. If you play Monumatic via CV/Gate , the voices sound off, respectively the voice behaves like an old analog synth from the 80s. The handling of the module via MIDI is ingeniously simple: on the one hand, polyphony is fully supported, on the other hand, the Chords that can be saved in the module are entered via MIDI . Extensive MIDI implementation has also been considered, which enables control via MIDI CCs or a master sequencer. If you are looking for versatile, well-functioning sounds with virtual-analog sound generation, have a soft spot for chord sounds and appreciate a great reverb effect or top AND don't want to put an additional synthesizer next to the Eurorack system, you should take a closer look at Monumatic.
