SPL Electronics Mercury Red is a high-end stereo digital / analog converter for highest technical and sonic demands in mastering - and at the same time the first mastering DA-converter in 120V technology! The low-pass filters, which are obligatory for every DA-converter, are designed as analog filters in 120V technology - one separate filter for PCM and one for DSD. More precisely, these filters are called DLP120, which stands for Dual Low Pass Filter in 120V technology. The result: a much larger dynamic range and a much higher headroom than was previously possible.
On the connection side, the SPL Electronics Mercury Red offers up to seven digital inputs. These include two AES/EBU, SPDIF, Toslink connections and a USB interface. AKM's highly acclaimed Velvet sound converter technology is used for conversion, allowing sample rates of up to 768 kHz, 32 bits and Direct Stream Digital up to DSD4.
In addition to a regular stereo output that can be calibrated to all common reference levels, the SPL Electronics Mercury Red provides an additional stereo output with analog adjustable output level. Thus, it also serves as a state of the art monitor controller.
