The Tama TW62RZS-RSC Star Walnut Shell Set Roasted Japanese Chestnut is a six-piece high-end shell set made of walnut with a Japanese chestnut veneer. Its exciting grain is further accentuated by the Light Roasted Japanese Chestnut Finish. The walnut shells produce a clean, warm sound with the deep midrange that only walnut can produce. High-quality rubber-bearing shell hardware in a chrome finish, solid zinc die-cast hoops and the Star bearing edge do the rest to elicit the best possible sound from the Tama Star drums. Hand-built by experienced drum makers in Japan, Star drum kits are the ultimate in the Tama range.
All the heads on the Tama TW62RZS-RSC Star Walnut shell set come from American head specialists Remo. Ambassador Coated on the batter side and Ambassador Clear on the reso side are found on tom toms and floor toms, while the bass drum features a Powerstroke 3 Coated as the batter head and a Fiberskyn Powerstroke 3 Diplomat as the reso head. They are tuned with cast hoops, which, like the rest of the Hardware , feature a classy chrome finish. Hold Tight Washers take over the task of a tuning lock and the Super Resonant Mounting System ensures vibration-neutral toms.
Both Toms and the floor tom come with quick-lock brackets, allowing for particularly fast and uncomplicated assembly and disassembly. The Floor Tom feet have air cushions, thanks to which the Floor Tom can develop its full resonance potential.
The lugs and bass drum claws convince with a filigree design and lightweight construction. In order to let the shells vibrate as freely as possible, as little mass as possible and only the most necessary contact from hardware to the shell was taken into account. The heads are supported by rubber pads and the bass drum claws use a "floating" design to minimize contact with the hoop. Details like a printed Tama emblem instead of a metal badge and a wooden border for the balance hole consequently continue the lightweight construction. The same objective was also applied to the construction of the bass drum. Its feet have an extra-large rubber buffer in which the mandrel is once again separately mounted. The forces acting on the bass drum are thus not even transferred to the mandrel but absorbed by the rubber foot. The result is a bass drum that can swing even more freely.
