Rides in the Storm QSQ in detail

The QSQ from Rides In The Storm is an 8-channel step sequencer, MIDI-to-CV/Gate interface, and CV generator designed for intuitive operation. Each channel can be configured individually. For example, it is possible to output an envelope on channel 2 that is triggered by the CV/Gate track on channel 1. In sequencer mode, notes are entered in the classic way using the 16 analog-style controls. A track can have a step length of 1 to 64 steps, its own timing (clock divider), and can play forwards, backwards, in an oscillating pattern, or randomly. Shuffle can also be applied, and a randomizer is available for more variation. In interface mode, the selected channel converts incoming MIDI notes from the USB or MIDI input into quantized 1V/oct voltages and gate signals. This allows several vintage synthesizers with CV/Gate control and modular patches to be played simultaneously. When used as a CV generator, the channel produces either an envelope or an LFO. The envelope can be linked to another output, which may make some external envelopes unnecessary depending on the setup. The LFO can run in sync with the beat using different divider or multiplier values and offers multiple waveforms. The voltage range extends from 0 to 10V in all operating modes. In sequencer mode, the gate length can be set individually for each step. The ability to synchronize the sequencer with other MIDI equipment makes the QSQ a flexible sequencing center both inside and outside the Eurorack environment.
