Analogue signal path based on a historical model

OSC 1 simultaneously generates the sawtooth and square waveforms with variable pulse width (PWM) and OSC 2 generates the square wave with variable pulse width. The combination of the square/pulse waveforms of OSC 1 and the Tone modulations of OSC 2 gives the DeepMind its fresh and special character, which has been appreciated since the Juno synthesisers of the 80s. The sound spectrum is complemented by a noise generator. The three tone generators and mixer are followed by the charismatic, analogue Lowpass filter with a slope of either 12 or 24 dB. Keytracking, LFO modulation and envelope with switchable inversion are directly adjustable. A downstream, resonance-free Highpass Filter cleans up the bass range if required. The last element of the analogue signal path is the stereo VCA.

The LFOs - non-stop activity!

At first glance, the two LFOs are clearly laid out with 7 waveforms each (sine, triangle, square, sawtooth, ramp, sample & hold, sample & glide) and controls for frequency and modulation delay. The Edit menu also contains Key Sync (restart of the LFO with each new note), Clock Sync (clock rates with a specific tempo reference) and parameters for phase link with both LFOs and the ability to modulate each other (cross-modulation).

Effects in abundance

Four simultaneously usable effect engines draw on a pool consisting of 33 outstanding algorithms from TC Electronic, Midas and Klark Teknik. These include tried and tested standards such as reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser, delay, multiband Distortion and many more. Enhancing a beautiful dub chord with chorus, two differently set delays and EQ is therefore no problem for the DeepMind. Furthermore, the effect blocks have flexible routing and the effect parameters can be modulated via the modulation matrix. The DeepMind's effects include the following algorithms:

Three envelope generators

Three ADSR envelopes, each with four segments (attack, decay, sustain, release), are available in DeepMind for shaping the sound. Unusually, each segment offers a continuously variable characteristic curve for even more flexibility. The envelope trigger modes include: Legato, Mono and Retrigger. In addition, the envelopes can be looped. This enables envelope curves that are rarely heard in this complexity on polyphonic synthesisers.

Eightfold modulation matrix

Would you like to control the length of the reverb or the effect of the compressor with the modulation wheel? Or how about modulating the MIDAS multiband Distortion from an LFO or with Aftertouch ? With 25 modulation sources and 133 destinations, you can modulate and automate just about anything. Modulation assignments are intuitively assigned by pressing and holding shortcuts, which opens up another path to explore besides synthesis.

Step sequencer with 32 steps

The speed-adjustable sequencer can be optionally synced via MIDI and allows a pattern length of up to 32 steps. In addition to the pitch, including polyphonic inputs for Chords , the note length, Velocity and Swing can be programmed. Velocity and Keytracking can also be found in the modulation matrix as modulation sources.

Remote control

Comprehensive remote control is available for the DeepMind via iPad/PC/Mac and selected Android apps via USB or MIDI for advanced parameter control. The iPad app also offers a reliable Preset manager, a gig list editor and an integrated Patch morpher.
