The Waldorf Microwave 1 plug-in offers a faithful recreation of the legendary first Waldorf Microwave synthesizer, based on the original ASIC chip. The plug-in operates at an internal sampling rate of 250 kHz and models the digital-to-analogue converters for each sound signal to preserve the characteristic sound of the original. Two oscillators per instrument and a digital noise generator based on ASIC technology ensure an authentic sound.
The plug-in contains all the original wavetables, including the algorithmic and voice wavetables, and it emulates the original 8-bit quantization. A user-friendly wavetable editor allows access to the complete waveform catalogue of the original instrument as well as the editing of user-defined wavetables.
The filter section models the analogue filters of revisions A and B and offers cutoff and resonance modulations animated by live modulations. The ADSR envelopes and LFOs are also modelled after the originals, whereby all envelope timings and levels can be modulated.
With an 8-voice polyphony and a multi-mode that allows up to 8 instruments to be layered or split, the plug-in offers flexible sound design. In addition, original .mid and .syx files can be imported, allowing the use of all original and new soundsets.
Owners of the Microwave 1 as Hardware can use the plug-in to remotely control their favourite from the DAW - no more bending or stretching to reach the Hardware in the rack!
The plug-in is available for both macOS and Windows and supports formats such as VST, VST3, AudioUnit and AAX. A configurable spectrum analyzer and a customizable user interface complete the package, making the Waldorf Microwave 1 plug-in a comprehensive solution for recreating classic synthesizer sounds.
