Programmable universal CV function generator
Rossum Electro-Music Control Forge is a programmable CV function generator in Eurorack format and at the same time an extremely flexible modulation source with which cyclic patterns and sequences of any length and complexity can be developed. The core function of the Control Forge originally comes from the E-mu Morpheus synthesizer. As special elements the Control Forge has a preset sequencer and conditional jump mode.
Rossum Electro-Music Control Forge in brief
Essentially, Control Forge is an 8-stage function generator with variable time and target voltage controller for each segment. The level of each level can be defined absolutely or relative to the level of the previous level and optionally quantized. The user can also define a random range of either linear or Gaussian distribution for the level of each individual level. Optionally the time scale of the Control Forge can be modulated with a control voltage or manually via encoder. There are 67 different transition shapes between the segments, which the display shows during selection. These range from linear and exponential shapes to various types of random, chaotic curves. The transition forms also include DC shapes that allow the Control Forge to be used as a sequencer - with all the advantages of programmability. Using the Preset Sequencer, sequences can be programmed with hundreds of steps and modified in real time manually or via CV.
The Conditional Jump Mode of the Control Forge
Optionally, a conditional jump mode is available for each segment, which results in a jump from one level to the other if a certain condition is fulfilled. Conditional jumps are without a doubt one of the most powerful abilities of Rossum's Control Forge. They offer the possibility to create CV contours and sequences that change their content depending on the input - from other modules in the Modular System or Control Forge itself. The simplest example is a cyclic contour in LFO style: five elements can be programmed in an "Always-at-End" jump. At the end of the fifth element, you jump to segment 1. Other conditions include control voltages above or below a set value, the presence or absence of a gate or an increasing/decreasing input signal.
AutoChain and Preset Sequencer
The AutoChain function of the Rossumen Electro-Music Control Forge enables two special types of multi preset patterns: a multi preset and retriggerable pattern, such as a long sync-capable LFO, and a multi preset, envelope-like and retriggerable pattern. Two independent triggers can be programmed to fire at a variety of events and affect either Control Forge itself or external modules. The module offers space for 500 presets. A preset sequencer also allows up to 200 user-defined preset series to be run under trigger, clock or manual control.
