The Strymon Deco V2 is the perfect tool for adding classic warmth and dimensional depth to your sound. Inspired by traditional tape machines of the fifties and sixties, the pedal recreates the characteristics of these Reel-to-Reel tape machines in amazing detail, reproducing the coveted tape saturation and all the inaccuracies of analogue systems including the distinctive double-tracking 'wobble'. The Deco V2 divides itself into two separately switchable sections, offering a choice of warm and full tape saturation or traditional tape-to-tape Double Tracking .

Tape Saturation with switchable sound modes

On the left side of the Strymon Deco V2 all options are available to give the sound a rich and full saturation of classic tape recorders. The most important setting is the Saturation Knob, which influences the preamp gain of the simulated tape recorder. Two switchable modes are available for this purpose: In Classic Mode, the Deco V2 simulates the unique characteristics of classic Vintage 2-track mastering Reel-to-Reel devices, while Cassette Mode relies on an Auto Level Control process (ALC) known from high-end tape recorders for a juicy and wide-ranging tape saturation.

Authentic Double Tracking

The Doubletracker section on the right side of the pedal produces classic sounds from the pioneering days of double tracking. The Deco V2 simulates all the characteristics of these first systems including all their analogue inaccuracies. Via the Type Switch three modes Sum, Invert and Bounce are available, which influence the Phase of the fed Lag Decks. The Lag Time control determines the delay between reference and lag deck and creates interesting, modulating effects from chorus sounds to slapback delays. Furthermore, randomly generated modulations can be added via Wobble Knob, which skilfully reproduces the inaccuracies of classic analogue tape effects.

Stereo, Expression & MIDI

In the V2 version, the Strymon Deco V2 offers an input switchable for mono or stereo operation and two separate stereo outputs for use with stereo effects units and bi-amp setups. In addition, extensive control options are available to easily integrate the Deco V2 into almost any effects setup. Thus, the pedal can be controlled either via an expression pedal, via an external footswitch or with a MIDI controller. For MIDI control, the common EXP/MIDI connector or the USB port, which is also on board, can be used.
