1U Alan by After Later Audio is a complex combination of sequencer, Shift register and clocked random generator based on the Turing Machine respectively Grand Richter's Noisering in the practical Intellijel 1U format. Using a cyclically shifting computational model and white noise, the module generates a constantly changing CV/gate sequence whose state can be frozen. It is not possible to enter notes with Alan, but Alan is a good choice for patches and sequences, in which mainly randomness is used. Length determines the length of the computational model, so fewer steps mean fewer coincidences within a run. Change changes the sequence to a decisive degree. The internal noise generator has its own output and can be used anywhere in the Patch . The After Later Audio 1U Alan depends on an external clock, eg. from an LFO or a MIDI to CV/Gate interface. This ensures a musically meaningful interaction in Patch . The CV input is assigned to the Change control.
With the separately available expanders Morcom and Enigma you get access to every single pulse Alan generates respectively a second, adjustable CV output which is always in relation to Alan's main output.
