    Introducing Behringer BM-13 PHASER

The Behringer BM-13 Phaser in detail

With the BM-13 Phaser, Behringer presents a clone of the Moog MF-103 Phaser from the popular MoogerFooger series. The BM-13 is an analog phaser effect with an incredibly dense, wafting basic sound. Operation is extremely simple, as there is exactly one control element per function and of course no submenus. It starts with the audio input, which accepts guitar and line signals and can musically distort the signal. The phaser part offers a choice of 6 or 12 filter stages and is sufficiently adjustable with the Sweep and Resonance parameters. An LFO with triangle waveform is integrated to give the effect its floating character. The basic speed can be switched between a very comfortable 0.01-2.5 Hz and a whirling 1-250 Hz. The modulation intensity ranges from nothing to moderate to "kill"; in short, the phaser pedal covers a wide range of sounds from slightly coloring to extreme settings and sounds consistently excellent. If you add control voltages from a step sequencer, a gated S&H or a function generator, the BM-13 could almost pass as an instrument in its own right.

Control voltages for even more fun

The connections are the same as on the original: there are four CV/expression inputs for the Sweep, Reso, Rate and Amount parameters. This allows the parameters to be controlled via an expression pedal or any control voltages from the modular system. The audio input is mono, as is the audio output; if you also use Aux Out, the wafting sounds are automatically distributed in the panorama. The triangle waveform of the LFO is output to LFO OUT and can therefore be used as an additional modulation source for other instruments with a control voltage input.
