Austrian Audio brings a breath of fresh air to your studio with the OC818 Studio Set and offers an exceptional solution for the recording room or various live situations. As a special feature, the focus here is on a second output that allows producers, engineers, musicians and forward-thinking artists to record the rear-facing capsule separately. Together with the free open source PolarDesigner software for Mac and PC, unprecedented capsule control and polar pattern customization is delivered between one and five bands with selectable transition points.

Directional characteristics via app

To configure the Austrian Audio OC818 flexibly in real time for complex live applications or during sound checks, an optional Bluetooth dongle can be attached to the back of the housing. Subsequently, the PolarPilot app for Android and iOS allows access to the behavior of both capsules, as well as the high-pass filter and the pad switch. This particular tool allows for an unprecedented 255 discrete polar patterns between figure-eight, all cardioid versions to omnidirectional.

To take full advantage of the OC818's extensive capabilities in mono and stereo, Austrian Audio provides various open source programs for Mac and PC. Currently, the smartphone app PolarPilot, the plug-ins AmbiCreator and PolarDesigner, and the StereoCreator are four applications that are tailored to the OC818.
