The Phara-O Mini by Behringer is a very compact analogue synthesiser with great sound potential. The clear signal path consists of oscillators, filter, envelope, LFO, VCA and a synchronisable delay effect. The synth can be played in 3-voice polyphony or in unison, but is also capable of octave and 5th mode as well as polyphonic and monophonic ring modulator sounds. Depending on the mode, the oscillators generate sawtooth or square waveforms. The Tuning of the oscillator can be set using the footswitch. This is followed by a 12dB Lowpass filter, which is based on the Korg miniKorg 700s from 1974 and has been supplemented with adjustable resonance. The end of the signal path is a digital Delay effect with a retro character that can be synchronized to the tempo if required. Modulation is provided by an ADS(R) envelope for pitch, VCF and VCA simultaneously and an LFO with three waveforms (sawtooth, triangle, square), which can be restarted for each note. The Phara-O Mini makes it easy to create distinctive basses, powerful lead sounds, ambient sounds and even slightly atonal sounds for sequencer lines.
The integrated step sequencer provides access to 10 patterns that can be programmed with different scales. You can also record controller movements in the pattern. Notes can be entered quickly and easily using the capacitive 27-key mini keyboard or via MIDI. Power is supplied exclusively via the USB port, and MIDI is also fed into the synthesiser via USB and the DIN socket. Thanks to its extensive MIDI implementation, the Phara-O Mini can be conveniently automated with a DAW or master sequencer.
