The Behringer UB-1 Micro at a glance

The UB-1 Micro from Behringer is probably the smallest Hardware synthesizer with Oberheim DNA. With its compact dimensions, it fits in any jacket pocket. In addition to its handy size and the reduced knobs to the bare essentials, another special feature is the consistently analog sound generation, which can be played monophonically or duo/paraphonically. The capacitive 16-key mini-keyboard will probably not be used to compose hymns, but this solution is perfectly adequate for playing the sounds. The subtractive sound generation is basically based on the in-house UB-Xa synthesizer. The two DCOs (Digital Controlled Oscillators) generate the sawtooth, triangle and square waveforms with PWM, and hardsync can also be switched on. The sound spectrum is supplemented with a sub-oscillator for the bass foundation and a noise generator. This is followed by a resonant 24dB Lowpass filter, with the VCA completing the signal path. As with the original, two ADSR envelopes, two LFOs and the arpeggiator with three playback patterns are used for modulation. The small UB-1 Micro sounds amazingly close to what the big 80s "battleships" are known and loved for. Basslines, lead sounds and above all the rough hardsync sounds are mastered by the little one straight away. Power supply and data exchange with the app is via the USB-C port. The UB-1 Micro MIDI receives notes and data from other MIDI equipment via the MIDI TRS connection and the supplied adapter. Extensive MIDI implementation has also been considered and 32 memory locations for your own sounds have been integrated.
