The NTG1 is the right choice if the positioning of the microphone directly next to the audio source is not desirable or even possible. Due to its low weight, it is well suited for handheld and boom arm applications, but can also be mounted to a camera with an adapter. Its broad frequency range, low inherent noise and the fine audio quality makes this microphone exceptionally well suited for film and synchronization projects.

If you are in need of an alternative power supply, then the Rode NTG2 is just right for you. It can be operated via one AA battery (1.5v) or P48 phantom power, yet weighs in at only 56 grams.
